Expect diverse slate of Asian films in cinemas from this month to October!

Fans of Asian cinema, you're in for a treat!

From this month till October, Singapore's leading film company mm2 Entertainment will be releasing a series of exciting movies from diverse genres. Each month will feature two big movies from Korea, Japan and Hong Kong respectively.

FOR FANS OF KOREAN MOVIES


Believer is the Korean remake of the classic Johnnie To film. It follows the story of Detective Jo Won-ho who is determined to catch the mysterious 'Mr Lee', the infamous leader of Asia’s largest drug market. But to track down Mr Lee, Won Ho must work with Rak, a drug cartel member who seeks revenge against Mr Lee. The film stars Cho Jin-Woong, Ryu Jun-Yeol, Kim Sung-Ryoung, Park Hae-Jun, Cha Seoung-Won and the late Kim Joo-Hyuck. Believer was the Reply 1988 actor’s final role after his tragic death in a car accident last October.

Her Story is based on the inspiring true story of the women in the "Gwanbu Trial". Moon Jeong-suk (Kim Hee-ae) is a hard-hearted successful businesswoman who is initially indifferent to the women of an anti sex-slavery movement. But she has a change of heart when she discovers an old friend's past as a comfort woman for the Japanese during World War II. This sparks Moon's determination to seek justice for 10 former comfort women, beginning an uphill legal battle against the Japanese government that lasted six years. Her Story stars Kim Hee-Ae, Kim Hae-Sook, Ye Soo-Jung, Moon Sook and Lee Yong-Nyeo.

FOR FANS OF JAPANESE MOVIES


My Little Monster is a youthful campus comedy adapted from the popular manga of the same name by Robico. It tells the unlikely love story between the emotionless bookworm Mizutani and the wild, uncontrollable delinquent Haru. Together, as two unsocial beings, they help each other learn how to care for each other and relate with their friends and family. The film stars Masaki Suda and Tao Tsuchiya.

In Cinemas: 2 August


Mirai is the latest film by three-time Japan Academy Award winner Mamoru Hosoda, who directed animated films such as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars. MIRAI tells the story of Kun, a spoiled 4-year-old boy, who comes across a magical garden where he meets his future sister Mirai who is now a young woman and has traveled back in time to see him. Their adventures together help Kun cope with learning how to live with a baby sibling.

HORROR!



23:59: The Haunting Hour is the sequel to the original army horror blockbuster jointly produced by Gorylah Pictures, Clover Films and mm2 Entertainment. Local director Gilbert Chan takes the helm again with an anthology of army horror stories, starring Mark Lee, Wang Lei, Noah Yap and rising TV star Richie Koh.

Sabrina is the latest Indonesian horror film by Rocky Soraya who directed “The Doll”, “The Doll 2” and “The Third Eye aka Mata Batin”. This spin-off from “The Doll” continues the story of doll makers Maira and Aiden, who live with Vanya, their adopted daughter. Vanya misses her late mother and resorts to a paranormal ritual to reach her mother. But strange things begin happening with Maira being terrorised by the Sabrina doll. What does the doll want?

Europe Raiders is the third film of Jingle Ma’s Raiders series with Tony Leung reprising his role as Agent Lam who forms a coalition with the CIA and European Union to crackdown on the crimes of an European gang.

In Project Gutenberg, the Hong Kong police are hunting a counterfeiting gang led by a mastermind code-named "Painter" (Chow Yun-fat). The scope of their criminal activities extends globally and attracts the attention of the police. In order to crack the true identity of "Painter", the police recruits gang member Lee Man (Aaron Kwok).
