The image of the Genie has been kept under wraps - till now.
That's because the first trailer of Disney's Aladdin has been released!
Last October in 2018, Disney tickled us good with the teaser, which did not reveal much at all.
This time around, we get to see the main characters pretty well.
There is, of course, Aladdin, played by Egyptian-Canadian actor Mena Massoud.
Then there is British-Indian actress Naomi Scott ('Power Rangers', 2017) as Jasmine; Dutch-Tunisian actor Marwan Kenzari as Jafar (who is lighting up the Internet because of his smoking good looks); Iranian-American actor Navid Negahban ('12 Strong') as the Sultan.
But what the Internet is really talking about is the Genie. Or rather, Will Smith as the Genie.
Twitter is ablaze with decidedly but expectedly mixed comments.
There's the good...
Wait, there's none. Moving on...
... the bad...
and the pretty darn funny.
As for this writer, he actually likes the tone and mannerisms that Smith has brought to the character. But to each his own.
