Aladdin 2 Is Reportedly In The Works
By Chen Shun / 01 Mar 2020 (Sunday)
Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin, based on the 1992 animated movie, proved to be one of the biggest box office hits in 2019. With that, there will naturally be a sequel in talks for Aladdin 2. What will this new sequel entail? Let’s see what we know so far.
Who will be the director of Aladdin 2?
Earlier in February, it was revealed that Guy Ritchie will be returning as the director for Aladdin 2. As he is currently busy with his next film, Guy Ritchie has promised to take up the role once he finishes on his latest work.
Who are the screenwriters?
THR revealed that the screenwriters for the upcoming blockbuster will be John Gatins and Andrea Berloff.
Aladdin 2’s production date?
With nothing set in stones, we shouldn’t expect it to start anytime soon. With the writing underway, we will most probably see cameras rolling in 2021 earliest. Depending on how Disney slot the movie into their schedule, as well as when the actors are available and when Guy Ritchie can commit to the movie that is when we can have a rough idea of when the shoot will officially start.
Who is reprising their roles for Aladdin 2?
When THR announced that Aladdin 2 was given the green light, it was also revealed that Will Smith, Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott are all expected to return to their roles of Genie, Aladdin, and Princess Jasmine, respectively. While they haven’t sign on the dotted line yet, it is most probably a given that their roles will still appear as they were the mains characters (can be seen in the movie poster). Of course, how big will their roles be is still a big question mark as there isn’t a place where we can refer for the upcoming storyline of Aladdin 2.
