Best Selling Taiwan Movie in Singapore goes to Apple!

Fans of YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE rejoice! The Best Selling Taiwan Movies in Singapore is none other than the sensational movie YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE!
According to chinapress.com.my, novelist-turned-director Giddens' first featured film YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE 《那些年，我們一起追的女孩。》 has garnered an eye-opening S$1,430,000 to date (22 Nov excluding sessions after midnight) since its opening date on 10 November (12 Days).
The trend of Taiwan films in Singapore is usually met with lukewarm response from its audience. But with a compelling story that is set to re-live your youth and bring back those memories, YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE has not only created a huge sensation in Taiwan and Hong Kong, but also creep itself to the number 1 spot in Singapore!

Although it's rated NC16 and might possibily lose the younger audience of 16 years old and below, Giddens' YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE has set a new record, surpassing Jay Chou's SECRET 《不能說的秘密》 (rated PG) (S$1,356,000), to become Singapore's Best Selling Taiwan Movie!

Giddens was here in Singapore for Bookfest@Singapore last Saturday for a sharing session! It's a little pity if you've missed this, but not to worry, you can follow up at anutshellreview! Find a number of clips on his speech and sharing at Suntec Conventional Centre Hall 601 - 603!
- Oh, if you love the movie YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE, you should probably consider reading its novel 《那些年，我們一起追的女孩。》 which I find is just as good as the movie!
Giddens also watched his movie in Singapore theatres to get an idea of the response here too! "No particular reasons. Just want to get a feel of Singapore audience's reaction. Watched the 23:30 screening of YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE at Shaw Lido. Not surprise that everyone laughed at the hilarious scenes. As for the last 10 mins, the roar of laughter slowly transitioned into absolute silence.. Although there's no applause, the sound of people weeping away can be heard in the hall.. Really happy to have made the decision to watch my movie tonight." said Giddens on Friday 18 Nov.
And last Sunday 20 November, InCinemas happened to be there and caught a glimpse of the famous Taiwanese during his Autography session at Pop@Central Bras Basah! He was surrounded by lots of people and the queue was insanely long~!
There were too many APPLE OF MY EYE fans to be counted! The queue stretched out of the bookstore and all the way to the corners of level 4.. Passing by, we overheard the emcee reading a note, which is attached in the novel to be signed by Giddens, that writes, "Although I'm not yet 16 years old, I have sneaked into the cinemas to watch your movie and I'm very happy to have done so!"
There is also a fan who describes Giddens as a sincere person just by observing him. "Just look at the number of people! And he's putting down his pen to shake hands with each and every one of his fans and trying his best to position himself for the camera while signing the books, posters, cards and even movie ticket stubs!"

Even after getting his autography, many continued to hang around to spend more time "with" the now already famous novelist..
