On Tuesday, 3 April, Universal Pictures will celebrate the World Premiere of BATTLESHIP with a celebration in Tokyo’s Yoyogi National Gymnasium, it was announced today.
Alongside director Peter Berg, as well as film stars Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker, U.S. Army Col. Greg Gadson, and Tadanobu Asano, almost 5,000 fans in attendance at the former site of the 1964 Summer Olympics will be the first to witness the epic action-adventure unfold.
BATTLESHIP opens in Japan on 13 April and in the U.S. on 18 May. (The film opens in Singapore on 12 April).
“By hosting the world premiere of BATTLESHIP in Japan, we celebrate our countries’ shared love of epic adventures,” Berg said. “Our heroes — Lt. Hopper of the U.S. Navy and Capt. Nagata of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces — bring their crews together to battle an alien threat that emerges from the Pacific. We hope those coming to Yoyogi are as excited to see BATTLESHIP’s international sailors in action as we are to show our film on opening night.”
