Chinese New Year is coming up this weekend. Along with this festive period, we also see quite a number of movies lined up. Let’s see how Salt Bae can spice up the celebration if he were to star in them!

From the creative team of “Ah Boys To Men” series, Take 2 is a comedy that depicts the lives of four misfits determined to turn over a new leaf. They start a F&B business together but soon find that it is not as easy as it seems as they encounter some surprises and challenges along the way. One of the two local films opening this CNY period, Take 2 stars Wang Lei, Ryan Lian, Maxi Lim and Gadrick Chin.


2. The Fortune Handbook

Starring the three Lee/Li — Christopher Lee, Li Nanxing, Mark Lee, The Fortune Handbook is the other local film bringing joy and laughter this CNY. It is the story about Su Fu, an unremarkable man obsessed with becoming rich and constantly conniving to get the secret recipe to Hao Xing, his brother-in-law’s famous traditional Chinese pastry. He thinks they’ve got it made when a Fortune God stumbles into his and his family’s lives, but the Fortune God’s actions turns out to have hilarious consequences.


3. Kung Fu Yoga

Kung Fu Yoga is the must-watch Jackie Chan action comedy this CNY. Playing the role of Chinese archeology professor Jack, he teams up with beautiful Indian professor Ashmita and assistant Kyra to locate lost Magadha treasure. Jackie Chan was also in town last week to promote this movie! 


4. Journey To The West: The Demons Strike Back

Produced by Stephen Chow and directed by Tsui Hark, Journey To The West: The Demons Strike Back continues the story from the first instalment in 2013. Tang Monk brings three disciples along with him on a journey to the West. On the outside, everything seems harmonious but tension present beneath the surface; and their hearts and minds are not in agreement. It is their quest to gain mutual understanding, resolve their conflicts and work together to become an all-conquering demon exorcising team.
